What toy is a both a blessing and a curse? THE PACIFIER. First off, I love the pacifier. After much hesitation, I decided to give Colby the pacy because I noticed he was still sucking his fingers after he nursed. He loved it. Later in the week, I found myself giving it to him every time he was fussy. This was a big mistake because he no longer was latching during breastfeeding. For a week, the pacifier disappeared and things during BF got better. Right now, I am slowly reintroducing the pacifier. So far everything is good. We will see what happens next week!!!
Grandma Marsha also came this week to help out. Colby really enjoyed his time with her, especially when they read together and she rocked him. Colby is definitively getting a lot heavier. I weighed him earlier in the week and he was about 9lbs 4ounces.
Colby is starting to develop a good sleep pattern. By good, I mean he sleeps for roughly 3 hr intervals during the night. I am getting use to functioning with little sleep but since I don't have many places to go during the week this is not an issue. While Marsha was here, I got to escape by going to the gym, doctor appointments, and Target. Yay... freedom.
I had my 6 week post-delivery checkup and everything checkout out good. This made Bill's day (wink wink). On Friday, Colby has his 6-week checkup and he will be getting shots. Poor Kid. We have tons of questions for the doctor. Mainly our concerns are about feeding, formula, breastfeeding, spit-up and his acne. I have been avoiding chocolate now in hopes that this may be causing his acne breakout. His face is defiantly looking a lot smoother.
Our big adventure this weekend is our first family trip to Penn State. Usually every year for Bill's B-day we go to Gettysburg, PA and go skiing or snow-tubing. Since a baby is now in the picture, this will not be possible. Instead, Bill wants to go celebrate at Penn State. I already started to pack and damn, we have so much stuff for our 2 day trip. Babies have a lot of baggage with them :-)
Here is the little bird at 6 weeks:
