Colby has been a lot more alert and even started smiling. At first when he smiled, I didn't know if he was doing it because he released gas or was happy. Now, I know he is doing it because he is happy. Colby has also started to recognize our faces and follow us. It is amazing to see how much he is learning each day. He also has developed baby acne. It doesn't bother him. I hope it goes away soon.
Colby's grandma Jan has been staying with us this week. She allowed Bill and myself to have a date night which was wonderful. We were so happy to get to spend some time together minus the baby. Next week, grandma Marsha comes as well. It is great to have some help around the house so we can get stuff done. However, I still get no sleep. It is starting to wear on me and poor Bill gets the bunt of it.
The main difficulty this week was getting some help breastfeeding. It has been 5 weeks and my nipples/boobs have been so sore still. I had a clogged duct and I finally got rid of it which helped a lot. However, his latches are not as wide as they need to be so I am having trouble with that. I tried calling LLC and the hospital for lactation specialists and no one was able to help. I have been bearing it for now. Hopefully things will get better (for my boobs) soon.
Here is the little guy at 5 weeks:

aw i hope it gets better soon for you. as far as the clogged duct always massage your breast while you're feeding him.. this way it prevents it from happening. I would massage while i was pumping and at time it took a while, but it helped a lot. Not to scare you, but sometimes if not "unclogged" fast enought, it might turn into something bad. it didnt happen to me, but my mom says she's seen this happen to others.
